On this special Christmas edition of the Double Dropkick Show, Heath Mullikin and Mark Whitman talk about the Batman movies you grew up with. We start with the 1966 version starring Adam West, Burt Ward, Cesar Romero, Burgess Meredith, Lee Meriwether, and Frank Gorshin. Then it’s on to Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns with Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Danny DeVito, Christopher Walken, and Kim Basinger. Joel Schumacher directed Batman Forever which featured Val Kilmer as Batman, Chris O’Donnell as Robin, Jim Carrey as the Riddler, Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face and Nicole Kidman as love interest Chase Meridian. Things went downhill with Batman & Robin. George Clooney came in as Batman while Arnold Schwarzenegger, Uma Thurman, and Alicia Silverstone were added. Warner Brothers rebooted the franchise with director Christopher Nolan who brought on Christian Bale to play the lead. Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman were brought on to complete the trilogy ensemble. Liam Neeson starred as Ra’s Al Ghul in Batman Begins, Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his portrayal of the Joker in the Dark Knight, and Tom Hardy played Bane with Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. One of the highlights of this episode is Mark’s spot on impersonation of Michael Gough’s Alfred. This episode is much longer that our typical ones, and we hope our love of all things Batman comes through.
